Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey was in town last night to light up the Burberry sign on the top of the label’s new U.S. headquarters at 444 Madison Avenue, New York’s old offices. He doesn’t know what happened to the old New York sign that used to stand there, but said he wanted the new sign to have an original point of view. “I wanted it to look like it had been there forever. And I wanted it to work with the New York skyline; I didn’t want it to be too garish, either,” Bailey explained after the official lighting. “We looked at the proportions to make sure it would work with the skyline.”

Bailey was mum on Burberry’s menswear show walking next month. “I couldn’t possibly talk about it right now, but it’s going back to the roots of what Burberry is about,” he said. Ooh, might that mean plaid? Bailey added that the company isn’t scaling back on the show, despite the economy. “But we’re being very thoughtful about the way that we use the funds that we have.” Though the CEO of Versace reportedly wanted to cut back on advertising budgets by, say, not paying Mario Testino’s $140,000 a day fee, Bailey thinks it’s worth it. “You’re buying talent. By now, we’re all aware of Megan Fox’s thing-she looks all hot (sometimes with her tongue out) and says whatever sexually charged thing pops into her head.We approve. So let’s see what kind of new material she’s come up for the Transformers sequel after her “I was in love with a stripper” routine from the first giant-robot movie. First, there’s Esquire (www.esquire.com/the-side/video/megan-fox-video) , which is easy pickings for Fox. Throw some lingerie on the girl and send some male reporter to fawn over her eating a plate of barbecue, just don’t expect her to use any fancy words…

It’s something I don’t have to turn on,” she says. “But I have no idea how to handle it. I feel like I have a better shot with someone in his thirties.” As she further explains: “I’ve lived the life of a 35-year-old since I was 18. I’m so suspicious of boys-slash-men. I just don’t like them or trust them.” Pretty shocking stuff. Boys her age just can’t handle the woman she is and all the deep conversations about being super hot!

You can call him Drake, Drizzy or even Young Angel. He goes by a few different handles these days since he split from “Degrassi: The Next Generation.” But one thing is certain about the Lil Wayne protégé (formerly known as Jimmy Brooks): He’s got the biggest buzz in hip-hop these days, new artist or not.  The upstart MC headlined the Hot 97 Who’s Next Live series at S.O.B.’s in Manhattan on Tuesday night, where he swiftly ran through songs from his popular mixtape, So Far Gone, during a lively 30-minute set.

Instead of having to prove himself to the crowd, as others in the monthly radio-sponsored showcase have done, the still unsigned, although probably not for long, artist powered through selections in front of an audience that featured heavyweights like Kanye West, Bun B, Talib Kweli, Ryan Leslie, Eminem tour DJ/producer-Alchemist and executives from multiple record companies.  Drake hit the stage at approximately 11:20 and had the crowd, which also featured a mix of college kids and plenty of young women, singing along with him from the start. Sporting a striped sweater, jeans and sneakers, the Toronto-based rapper and singer entered to an instrumental version of Coldplay’s “Viva la Vida,” then quickly dived into his songs “Unstoppable” and “Uptown,” for which Bun B joined him onstage. “I’m a new artist, by the way,” Drake slyly told the packed house. “I don’t know if you can tell by this show.” You would think he had a catalog albums-deep by the way his songs were being chanted throughout his set.

The rapper has released three mixtapes:the DJ-Smallz-hosted Room for Improvement, Comeback Season and So Far Gone, which was released in February of this year and feted with a party attended by NBA superstar LeBron James. The sold-out S.O.B.’s show marked Drake’s last performance before he starts working on his debut album, Thank Me Later. The rapper told MTV News he plans to begin work on his solo project in June. He has yet to announce what label he’ll sign to, however. Since going on the road with Lil Wayne on the I Am Music Tour earlier this year, Drake has performed at a number of colleges and cities across the country, and countless YouTube highlights from each stop have been posted online. Drake told the Manhattan crowd he purposely made New York his last stop. Last month Drake blitzed through the Big Apple, making appearances at hip-hop radio stations, freestyling on Funkmaster Flex’s show and reportedly working on a song with Jay-Z, according to a Twitter dispatch from producer Just Blaze.The trip has thrust his already building buzz into high gear, so Drake dedicated one of his last songs, “Successful,” to New York. “The game needs change and I’m the cashier,” he rapped over slow snare kicks that boomed through the venue. The crowd, again, took care of the crooning on the song’s chorus. “I want the money, money and the cars, cars and the clothes, the hoes, I suppose, I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful,” they sang in unison. Drake ended the show with Young Money’s “Every Girl” and his own breakout hit, “Best I Ever Had,” as West, standing in the back of the room, danced along. “Y’all make me feel a certain way,” he said, as the chorus to “Best I Ever Had” kicked in. “You the f—ing best.” MTV.COM

Asher Roth just isn’t that into Lindsay Lohan. When Linds discovered the “I Love College” rapper would be performing at the University of California’s Santa Barbara campus, she drove three hours from L.A. to see him. But Roth wasn’t feeling her.

Says an insider, “Lindsay was bugging both Asher and his management team to get onstage during ‘She Don’t Want a Man,’ but Asher was so annoyed by her requests that he actually skipped performing the single.” Lohan, naturally, tweeted about the incident. “Wow,” she sniped. “Asher was cocky to all my friends and not that nice.”

Asked about explaining who HANUK HANUK or HANUK is and I would have to say he creates web sites, writes and photographs for Men’s style, STYLE.COM, INTERVIEW and MEN’S VOGUE. HANUK is famous for taking photos of himself kissing others, I know I see him at all the best parties, usually alone and quite friendly but mysterious.

I think recently he thought he was pregnant and people were critical of this. I am reasonably sure he is brilliant and operating on a different playing field than most. He once told me I was his inspiration in becoming a nightlife photographer and that made me sad and mad too … the last thing I needed was another damn photographer loose on my turf especially one I instantly liked and appreciated! - N.Y. Cannes experienced a celebrity eclipse the second Angelina took to the red carpet. Jolie has dominated the red carpet at Cannes over the past few years, from her bright citron Emanuel Ungaro gown to her green Max Azria maternity gown last year, and 2009 is shaping up to be no exception. The star joined her partner Brad Pitt for the premiere of his new film “Inglorious Basterds” in a super-sexy draped Versace Atelier gown in a tea rose color.

But what really caught our eye is the thigh-high slit on her gown, exposing pretty much all of her perfectly toned right leg. Earlier in the day Brad, along with his costars and director Quentin Tarantino, were at a press conference for the film but a feeding frenzy did not hit the red carpet until Angie showed up to meet Brad for a private event for the entire cast of Quentin Tarantino’s film the night before. The dinner date came soon after Jolie arrived from Holland, where she had observed a war crimes trial. Sad to say the rumors of “trouble” in Jolie-Pitt land were greatly exaggerated. And then there is Prince Peter, T-Shirt Designer (I’d rather slit my wrists than hurt a kid) and his muse Jacob Dekat. Jacob,”affectionately” known as Jailbait Jacob is well… everything Orlando Bloom, Chase Crawford, Zac Efron, Robert Pat, Brad Pitt, and George Clooney used to look like… Time being the eternal enemy.
