The drizzle in New York this morning was perfect for a live 3D screening of Burberry Prorsum’s Fall 2010 show in London. Across the pond, it was raining as well. It was as if Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s chief creative officer, was playing God and indeed all eyes were on Burberry as it took fashion’s technological innovations to new heights. Besides staging the live catwalk showing of its fall 2010 women’s Burberry Prorsum also organized screenings in five other cities – New York, Tokyo, Paris, Dubai and Los Angeles.
“Strong and sexy — but protective and back to our history,” Mr. Bailey said backstage while celebrities from Mary-Kate Olsen to Kristen Stewart lined up to join his fashion army. Fittingly the rain falling outside reminded the audience of Burberry’s waterproof tradition.

While Kristen Stewart was pouting and Kate Hudson and Claire Danes were trying to get noticed (yawn), Mary-Kate Olsen was being shady and looking fierce. Mary-Kate was exuding confidence and indifference simultaneously and giving us fever! With a mere smirk or the slightest tilt of her head she controlled the cameras like a true fashionista. MK has mastered subtly and nuance and looked amazing while doing it. Behold the only TRUE celebrity who captured our attention and imagination in the front row during any show in recent memory.

Celebrity clothing lines are about as interesting as the swine flu these days (Kim Kardashian and Jwoww have clothing lines coming out kids need we say more?). And as consumers we get bombarded with the constant sales pitch from celebrities and their BS clothing lines.
Take for example Pharrell’s BBC and Ice Creme lines. When these respective lines first launched they were “interesting” and novel in comparison to other street wear lines like Sean John and Rocawear. Pharrell’s lines seemed to have better designs and a more exclusive marketing approach. That last maybe two seasons??? Now one of the only people rocking BBC or Ice Cream are people with no conception of what style is, people like Chris Brown and…..oh yeah, Pharrell. Here are some samples of the Spring/Summer BBC 2010 line…let’s just say I’m sure Pharrell will one of the only people rocking this crap. (Oh and maybe Chris Brown and Omarion). Enjoy!
Jared Leto, aka 30 Seconds to Mars front man, and formerly known as Jordan Catalano from My So Called Life has made yet a new “change”.
Being a poser at this level is not easy kids. Being cropped out of pictures in favor of more relevant stars like Chase Crawford and Ed Westwick must be extremely hard on poor Mr. Leto. So hard in fact that he needed to make such a drastic change in the attention whore traditions of late. Maybe if this change were more gradual (and maybe if he were not in such a lame “band”) we might be more accepting but we can see the newly clipped hairs on his brand new designer shirt. Oh how we hate a bad TREND over at the Hotel. “Hipster” glasses were cool like maybe 7 season’s ago. And nothing is more frustrating or annoying then when athletes and musicians pick up on old trends and pretend like they are starting something “NEW”. Money can’t buy you style and maybe that is a good thing. But when Reggie Bush, Joe Jonas, Jay-Z and Justin Bieber rock the same tired trend it’s time to take action!
Oscar-nominee Jeff Bridges credits his wife of 33 years for all his movies. In the latest issue of GQ, Bridges says “Well, I’m deeply in love with this girl man.” Sue should get a credit on all my movies. I wouldn’t be able to do this without her.”

Style counts for everything and so do pairing the right things. In the the New Vampire Weekend Video, the fellas recruited RZA, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lil Jon and Joe Jonas to act as players in a rather odd tennis match. The inspiration came from frontman Ezra Koenig’s late night epiphany: “I was stressed out one night worrying about the video and an image popped into my head of our friend Jenny (who’s also in the ‘Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa’ video) playing tennis against a samurai,” Koenig told Spinner. “It grew from there.” The video shows a girl playing and defeating Joe Jonas, a samurai, a pair of Daft-Punk lookalikes and a flask-swigging Jake Gyllenhaal. RZA serves as umpire, while Lil Jon lends a helping hand as the girl’s coach. Very Hotel Fashionland kids. Enjoy!
Jay-Z opened the North American leg of his BP3 tour at Miami’s Bank Atlantic Center on Saturday with wife Beyoncé, Diddy and New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez in the audience, according to the Miami Herald. The show’s lineup included opening act Trey Songz as well as Young Jeezy, who is billed as a special guest for the tour. But while Bey-Z may have been on opposite sides of the world for Valentine’s Day, Jay-Z and Beyoncé managed to find time to celebrate the belated holiday while cruising on a massive yacht in Miami. Clearly NYC is not the only town these two run.
