McQueen

Today, in a gilded salon in Paris, small groups of editors were invited to view the 16 pieces that Alexander McQueen had been working on before his death a few weeks ago. Artworks by Jean Fouquet, Sandro Boticelli, Stephan Lochner, Hans Memling, Hugo van der Goes and Hieronymus Bosch were captured digitally and transferred onto red, gold and silver dresses embellished with ornate embroideries. At this point, not much more can be said about the brilliance of McQueen’s work – consider, for example, a plumed dress for which each individual feather was painstakingly covered in gold leaf.  NYT.COM
