Rihanna’s White HeatWednesday, July 3rd, 2013Only Rihanna can make a long sweater dress seem like she’s wearing next to nothing. Yah, we know… More coming soon! Frank Ocean is a real PUNK!Thursday, May 9th, 2013Frank Ocean seems to be hitting all the right notes recently. Find out why after the turn. Frank Ocean has never been known for his fashion sense but on a night that celebrated an exhibit entitled Punk: Chaos to Couture, Frank is the only guy who got it RIGHT. Ocean nailed it! The singer and producer’s Givenchy tux fit like a glove and its abbreviated proportions managed to make dated notch lapels feel new. The striking simplicity of the clothes gave way to some footwear with definitive punk spirit, namely a pair of woven oxfords with studded outsoles (have a closer look after the jump). Leave it to a musician like Ocean to hit the right note on a night when so many guys’ looks fell flat. The reason must be Franky cozy new relationship with Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci. This is definitely Franks’ coming out party. Marc Jacobs ShinesFriday, February 15th, 2013
When Marc Jacobs referred to the “weather project” after his show on Thursday night, I thought he meant the weather, which has been pretty lousy of late. But he meant The Weather Project, a 2003 installation at the Tate Modern by the artist Olafur Eliasson. I had to look it up, but that’s okay. Mr. Eliasson’s big artificial sun — 18,000 watts of sodium-yellow street light bulbs — explained a lot. For his fall show at the New York State Armory, Mr. Jacobs put up a huge illuminated circle that, like Mr. Eliasson’s “sun,” sent out a yellow, decidedly unflattering light. Guests’ clothes looked colorless — as in a half-tone world — and people looked older, too, as if a little aged by the weather, or by Fashion Week. Tired faces were certainly the last thing anyone wanted to see, especially one’s own. “It’s just about simple clothes — the ones that give us pleasure,” said Mr. Jacobs, who was wearing bronze-brown pajamas. “I mean, it’s a no-brainer.” Spectacular Jeremy Scott unveils a monster show!Thursday, February 14th, 2013 READ MOREThe BlondsWednesday, February 13th, 2013Jacob De Kat, Carmen Electra and Prince Chenoa at The Blonds.
