K-STEW sets off PARIS FASHION WEEK!
September 28th, 2012 by Hotel Fashionland received Comments OffIt was the most eagerly anticipated front-row appearance of the runway show season thus far. Kristen Stewart, scorned starlet, turned up at Paris Fashion Week last Thursday morning to see the spring-summer 2013 Balenciaga collection by Nicolas Ghesquiere.
And there were more paparazzi waiting outside for a shot at her than guests inside. It was a sure bet that Stewart would come because she is the face of the house’s new fall fragrance, Florabotanica, a mix of a hybrid rose, wood and moss inspired by a fractured fairy tale.
And it seems as though Ghesquiere must have had that fairy-tale theme in mind while designing the blockbuster collection, which was both naughty and nice. The verdict: A game changer.
Precise cuts and clean lines were Ghesquiere’s answer to fashion’s current print and embellishment overload. (Above: Salma Hayek)
Adding midriff-baring tops to the suits was a fresh idea, even if it did hearken back to the 1990s. And the wickedly sweet dresses should be a hit in Hollywood, both with Stewart (who frankly has never been so interesting as she is now that she’s gotten into trouble) and other good girls gone bad.
