Ralph Lauren has has one fabulous week in Paris. The designer received the prestigious Chevalier de la légion d’honneur yesterday from French president Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysée Palace in Paris in recognition of his contributions as a designer, businessman and philanthropist for the last 30+ years. Designers Valentino and Giorgio Armani are among others who have received the honour.  (Below: Carine Roitfeld)

Earlier in the week, Lauren and family members including his sons David and Andrew, daughter Dylan and wife Ricky were all on hand to fête the opening of the designer’s new store in Paris on the Boulevard St. Germain. The 13,000-square-foot flagship has six floors and marks the designer’s biggest store to date in Europe. Housed in an hôtel particulier dating from the mid-1600s, Lauren’s new outpost features a full range of all the different men’s and women’s collections as well as vintage and fine jewellery, a watch salon, homewares and a restaurant called Ralph’s (the designer’s first in Europe), which serves up American-style fare (cooked by French chefs) like steaks and burgers.  (Below: Sonia Rykiel)

Guests like Lauren Bush (girlfriend of David Lauren), Michelle Yeoh, Kevin Spacey, Gerard Depardieu, Karl Lagerfeld, Sonia Rykiel, model Abbey Lee and Carine Roitfeld all turned out for the opening night festivities, donning the designer’s latest spring/summer creations, which are highly in demand for this season’s denim-on-denim and country chic looks. -
