Style counts for everything and so do pairing the right things. In the the New Vampire Weekend Video, the fellas recruited RZA, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lil Jon and Joe Jonas to act as players in a rather odd tennis match. The inspiration came from frontman Ezra Koenig’s late night epiphany: “I was stressed out one night worrying about the video and an image popped into my head of our friend Jenny (who’s also in the ‘Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa’ video) playing tennis against a samurai,†Koenig told Spinner. “It grew from there.†The video shows a girl playing and defeating Joe Jonas, a samurai, a pair of Daft-Punk lookalikes and a flask-swigging Jake Gyllenhaal. RZA serves as umpire, while Lil Jon lends a helping hand as the girl’s coach. Very Hotel Fashionland kids. Enjoy!
