Age aint nothing but a number… In Paris Vogue!

August 9th, 2011 by Hotel Fashionland received 2 Comments »

After appearing in a controversial, hyper-sexualized editorial in French Vogue, 10-year-old French model Thylane Blondeau has become a sensation. While some praise her for being beautiful, more are likely disturbed by how, at the age of 10, she’s cultivated a sex-pot image minus the rack.

What do you think of Thylane Blondeau’s French Vogue shoot? In America such images also raise concerns about child predators but in Paris this is nothing new.  Walk down the streets of Paris and you’ll see kids dressed up like mini-adults, in outfits identical to their parents.

Popular French labels APC, Zadig & Voltaire, and Maje all have miniaturized collections for mother and daughter to play dress up together: faux python leggings, leopard print–you name it, they’ve got it.

There is, in fact, an entire children’s market around mimicking women’s rituals so what’s the big deal. Do you think this shoot pushes the limits?

I find it completely bizarre. She’s so gorgeous but I can’t help being disturbed.
Fairly obvious response on my behalf but it’s so freaking fresh I love and hate.
